<image:title>Blog - Taking Care of Business at Home with Children</image:title>
<image:caption>Trying to get anything done at home when you have children that need and want your attention can feel so utterly and completely impossible. In teaching, we have this term called front loading, It is when we pre-teach the vocabulary or background knowledge that students need in order to maximize what we teach so that students can be successful right out of the gate. I like to take a similar approach when trying to get work done at home. When I know I need to sit down at my computer to write a paper, get my lesson plans in order, or respond to clients, I utilize the front loading technique. I start talking to my son about the schedule for the day and let him know that I will need to take some time to get work done. We discuss how he will need to play quietly while I work. What do these conversations sound like? What does that quiet time look like? “While your brothers nap, I am going to sit down for 30 minutes to do some work. Can you think of a quiet activity you can do while I am working? Let’s come up with three ideas for activities that you can do while I work.” Once we settle on the activities he would like to do, I have him set them up. Oftentimes he wants to listen to an audiobook and build LEGOS so we look on our audiobook app OverDrive, pick a book and connect to the speaker. I like to pick three activities as options provide age-appropriate independence; also, I have the peace of mind that if he finishes with one activity, he can move on to another. Right before I sit down to work I give him a big snack and make sure he has a bottle of water with him. Then I let him know that it’s time for me to go sit and work and remind him of what our plan is for afterwards. “I am going to sit at my desk for 30 minutes to work while you play with your LEGOS and listen to your story. When I am done, I will come build your dinosaur puzzle with you” Sometimes I will set a 30 minute timer on our Alexa that he can hear from his bedroom to hold myself accountable and ensure that I have enough time to go play with him afterwards. It doesn’t work 100% of the time but there are days where he will play contently and I get enough work done. But then there are days like today where he has a million and one questions and needs that have to be answered IMMEDIATELY or he’ll explode!! Some days I can put my work aside for a later time and some days it is non-negotiable and has to get done. On those days, I’m not above pulling out the iPad and putting on an episode of Little Bear or Magic School Bus.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - Throughout our infant sleep training as new parents, Brittany had our back, no matter what. Her expertise saved us time, helped us better prepare for the future, and more importantly, got us and our little one more sleep. Brittany is kind, responsive, intuitive, and a loving baby-guru. My husband and I are grateful for her energy and sleep consulting help. She’s one of a kind.</image:title>

<image:caption>“Brittany helped our family implement a feeding and sleep schedule with all 3 of my kids. Being an insecure new mom with my first, I was overwhelmed by information and too exhausted to make decisions. It was so nice to have Brittany come meet with me and provide tangible, specific feedback with a step by step plan. She always offered support and encouragement when I was second guessing or ready to give up. The process isn't easy and having a confident, consistent voice with so much experience was what I needed to get through it. Motherhood fell into place for me once we were all sleeping and had a schedule, and I am so grateful that Brittany helped us through the newborn stage with our kiddos.” — Natasha C.</image:caption>

<image:title>Reviews - “Before working with Brittany, we were all lacking decent sleep. With her coaching, guidance, and support we dialed in a sleep schedule that worked so well, my son blossomed. We went from fighting bedtime and separation, to happily saying goodnight as we left the room. He became a happier version of himself because he was well rested. Brittany’s regular check-ins after bedtime and wake up gave us the reassurance we needed to push through the difficult moments. I wish we found her sooner!”</image:title>

<image:title>Reviews - “I first reached out to Brittany when my son turned 3 months old and the idea of going back to work and waking up multiple times a night was unbearable. I wanted to be the best me not only for myself, but also for my son, and knew I couldn’t do that without a decent night of sleep! Brittany was so wonderful to work with - personable, friendly, and flexible with a first time Mom. I implemented her tips on a sleep environment as well as a sleep schedule and saw results immediately. With some positive reinforcement from Brittany, my son was sleeping through the night (7:30 PM - 7 AM!) in 3 nights and continues to be a great sleeper at 3 years old. I have reached out to Brittany for some various questions here and there and she has been so wonderful in immediately responding and providing some professional insight. I utilized the same techniques with my daughter and she is a great sleeper as well! Being a parent is challenging and doesn’t need to be done sleep deprived - I cannot recommend Brittany enough for her services! Thank you for your help in making me a better person and parent!”</image:title>

<image:title>Reviews - “Brittany has been with our family for over three years now. When my first son was six months old, we hit a wall, unsure of what to do, severely lacking sleep, and bouncing and rocking all hours of the night. We talked to Brittany over the phone, and she gave us concise intructions on how to set up a good sleep environment, emailed me a schedule and put me at ease when I had concerns. At the time I felt this woman saved my life because I was exhausted. The process of my son learning to sleep well was simple and worked. From there she helped me bridge short naps. Then, she was with us from day one with my second son. I have two incredible sleepers. She has always been so comforting, encouraging, supportive, responsive, consistent, kind, and genuinely cares about all families. She has an extensive background in all things concerning babies, and that knowledge shows in her guidance. She even has helped me with parenting advice throughout the years. She has also given me tips on potty training, sleep sacks, what to do when my babies were sick, breastfeeding, pumping schedules, milk supply tips, and so on. Every time I’ve had a question she hits me with a clear answer, and because I have so much trust in her, I do exactly what she says, and 100% of the time the issue is resolved right away. I cannot recommend Brittany more highly!”</image:title>
